Washington, D.C. (ICT) Prominent Tibet supporter and Chairman of ICT’s Board of Directors, Richard Gere, has been invited to address the German Parliament on Tibet in April.

The German Parliament’s Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid announced on February 3, 2002 that Gere has been invited to testify at a hearing on Tibet in Berlin on April 17, 2002.

The Committee consists of 15 Members of the German Bundestag. Seven are members of the SPD parliamentary group, five belong to the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, while the parliamentary groups of Alliance 90/The Greens, of the FDP and of the PDS each have one member. The Chairperson of the Committee is Christa Nickels (Alliance 90/The Greens), and the Deputy Chairperson is Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling (CDU/CSU).

Gere has testified before the United States Congress and UN forum concerning the situation in Tibet.
