ICT Office Manager

The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) is currently seeking an Office Manager for its Washington, D.C. office. This is an excellent position to develop professional office skills and to be part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced Washington office.

ICT is a non-partisan, public interest group dedicated to promoting human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet. ICT works with the U.S. government to support Tibet, advocates for Tibetans imprisoned for their political and religious beliefs, provides for humanitarian assistance to Tibetans, and promotes a peaceful resolution of the occupation of Tibet through negotiations between China and the Dalai Lama. Founded in 1988, ICT is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization with offices in Washington, Amsterdam, Berlin and Brussels.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Front office operations (staffing desk, handling deliveries, answering and transferring telephone calls, sorting mail, greeting visitors)
  • Ordering, stocking, organization and inventory of ICT products and office supplies
  • Responding to information requests about Tibet through telephone and e-mail
  • Facilities management
  • Vendor interaction
  • Managing ICT’s on-line store
  • Training staff on systems operations
  • Maintaining volunteer list and coordinating volunteers
  • Office security
  • Setting up and breaking down for special events in the conference room

Qualifications:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
  • At least 1 year experience in office management or equivalent
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Initiative driven and self-starter
  • Familiarity with office phone systems (PBX system) helpful
  • Passion for human rights issues
  • Spoken Tibetan desirable
  • Familiarity with Tibetan issues a great plus

On-Line Marketing Manager

ICT is staffing up to address the current crisis in Tibet, the upcoming 2008 Olympics and beyond. To take our online presence to the next level, we are seeking an Online Marketing Manager with a solid online and email marketing experience, excellent project management skills, and expertise in what it takes to develop a cutting edge online presence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manages and delivers Web site content and design enhancements for ICT's offices in Washington, Amsterdam, Berlin and Brussels.
  • Develops, creates, implements, and manages effective and targeted e-mail strategy to recruit and activate members and supporters.
  • Writes and edits Web and e-mail content.
  • Maximizes traffic to our Web site through online advertising, SEO, and other platforms.
  • Develops and manages social networking initiatives on third party sites.
  • Works with our IT coordinator to ensure the Web site effectively leverages the database.
  • Measures and reports on the effectiveness of online campaigns and activities.
  • Ensures activities are implemented within agreed budgets and deadlines.
  • Develops and oversees compliance with site content guidelines, style sheets, back-end data management and other business rules.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Two to three years experience in Web site design and content management.
  • Background in online marketing, advertising, publishing or related field.
  • Strong online copywriting and editing skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Convio highly desired.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and PHP; Flash experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Attention to detail, the ability to manage many projects simultaneously, and manage priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Willingness to work outside traditional working hours when necessary.
  • Some European travel required.

ICT Campaigns Intern (Amsterdam)

The International Campaign for Tibet Europe (ICT-E) is a place where committed and talented individuals work for the human rights and self-determination of the Tibetan people. We are currently seeking an intern to assist the Campaign Coordinator with a number practical and campaign tasks as part of the Race for Tibet Campaign in the run up to Beijing 2008.

Necessary qualifications:

  • Be informed and enthusiastic about ICT's mission
  • Have good knowledge on the Tibet issue
  • Interest in grass-roots campaign work
  • Excellent Dutch-language writing skills
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Good computer and Internet skills
  • An Interest and experience in organizing sports activities and various types of events will be an asset

Intern's responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Campaign Coordinator with the implementation of campaigns
  • Help with the implementation of ICT's role in the Ticket for Tibet festival
  • Help in the preparation and distribution of Campaign materials
  • Assist the Coordinator in the recruitment and coordination of an active network of volunteers for the Ticket for Tibet Festival
  • Develop a database of sports organizations and athletes in The Netherlands
  • Man ICT stands at events organized ICT or in conjunction with other organizations
  • Provide support and co-organize events that are initiated by ICT-members
  • Assist the Campaign Coordinator in administrative tasks

Chinese Outreach Program part-time Intern

ICT's Chinese Outreach Program:

The International Campaign for Tibet works to promote human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet. The Chinese Outreach program was created to enhance the Chinese people's knowledge and understanding of Tibet and to support freedom, democracy and human rights in China, Tibet, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It is designed to build understanding and trust between Tibetans and Chinese, and to explore future relationships between the peoples. The Program seeks to foster mutual understanding, tolerance for diversity, and inspiration from within for meaningful change in China and Tibet. Part Time Internship

The International Campaign for Tibet is seeking a part-time intern to work in ICT's development and membership department. This is a terrific opportunity to get experience at a leading non-profit organization while developing valuable fundraising and marketing skills. ICT will host a visit by the Dalai Lama this October, and this intern will also help with preparation and organization for events during the visit.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be interested and enthusiastic about ICT's mission;
  • Have superb communication skills;
  • Have excellent computer skills;
  • Be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects under short deadlines;
  • Have demonstrated a high level of discretion and attention to detail;
  • Be a quick learner and self motivated; and
  • Commit to a regular schedule of 15-20 hours per week.

ICT looking for volunteers!

ICT is looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to assist in project-based and administrative work in our Washington, D.C. office, and volunteers are key to making ICT special events happen! Without people giving their time freely, ICT would function less effectively. ICT Internship Program (US Office)

The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) is currently seeking interns to work in ICT's advocacy/communications departments.

ICT is a place where committed and talented individuals work for the human rights and self-determination of the Tibetan people. The priority of our internship program is assisting the staff with what needs to be done with regards to our current campaigns and programs. However, we try to assign projects that are relevant to the interests of our interns as much as possible.

Internships at ICT are available on spring, summer, and fall semester basis. Interns work on a variety of projects including assisting in legislative tracking and lobbying, answering information requests and correspondence, web-site maintenance, archiving press articles and photographs, report research, and events planning.

In selecting interns, ICT gives consideration to past involvement in Tibetan issues and organizations, travel to Tibet or Tibetan communities in exile, and involvement in related human rights issues. Tibetan college students and members of Students for a Free Tibet chapters are especially urged to apply, as are students who have participated in an accredited Tibetan studies program, or other young people with a committed interest in Tibet, China, and political advocacy. The full-time internship is unpaid, but comes with a stipend per month. Interns can arrange for college credit through their college or university.
