Nepal struck by second major earthquake

Two weeks after a disastrous 7.8 magnitude quake leveled wide swathes of Nepal, a second quake has hit the Himalayan nation. Centered near the Namche Bazaar area, which is familiar to Tibetans who fled Tibet through the Nangpa-La pass, this one was rated at 7.3 on the Richter scale.
ICT has established an earthquake relief fund, 100% of which is being distributed directly to trusted organizations on the ground in the quake-affected areas. This fund has already gathered more than $80,000– to donate, please click here.
20 years marked since Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognized as the 11th Panchen Lama
Following tradition Tibetan methods, the Dalai Lama recognized the young boy as the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama on May 14th, 1995. He was abducted by Chinese authorities shortly thereafter. Dalai Lama concludes teachings at Gyuto Monastery in Dharamsala, India

Thousands of monks, nuns, and laypeople came together in Dharamsala to see the Dalai Lama give four days of teachings at Gyuto Monastery. According to a CTA report, he opened the teachings by speaking about sustaining the essence of Buddhism, non-violence, interdependency and the need to foster kinship among the various religious traditions. Sikyong Lobsang Sangay speaks to Chinese scholars on Tibet
Initiatives for China, which was founded by the prominent Chinese dissident Yang Jianli, organized the dialogue. The Central Tibetan Administration states that Lobsang Sangay’s address “underlined the importance of interaction between the Chinese and the Tibetan people to restore the historic trust and friendship shared by the two people. The trust and friendship between the two people has however strained lately as a result of Chinese government’s continued propaganda to create misunderstandings and disharmony.” For more please see their report.
