Rowell Fund for Tibet Announces Grants to Projects on Education, Elderly Care, Photography, and Archival Initiatives

The Rowell Fund for Tibet’s Board of Advisors has decided to award funds for 2018 to six projects that deal with Education, Elderly Care, Photography, and Archival of Tibet heritage documents. The Fund will award $37,320 to applicants for projects throughout Asia in memory of lifelong Tibet supporters, Galen and Barbara Rowell, who died in a plane crash in 2002.

The Fund received 34 applications from Tibetans in Tibet and outside for this grant cycle.

“It is nice to be part of this hugely beneficial program that honors the legacy of our friends and family, Galen and Barbara and their contributions to the survival and thriving of Tibetan culture and environment,” said Bob Palais, a member of the Board of Advisors of Rowell Fund for Tibet.

Rowell Fund for Tibet Announces 2016 Grantees

The Board of Advisors of the Rowell Fund for Tibet has selected 5 Tibetan grantees for financial support totaling $28,539.68 for 2016. The winners were chosen from 26 project proposals with individual grants ranging from $1,954.05 to $7,500 and will be carried out in India and other countries.

The Rowell Fund for Tibet was established in 2003 in memory of the late Galen Rowell and his wife Barbara who died tragically in a plane crash in 2002. Galen Rowell was an internationally known outdoor photographer whose “Rainbow over the Potala Palace” has become an iconic photo for adventure travelers and Tibet supporters.

Rowell Fund for Tibet Announces 2015 Grantees

The Board of Advisors of the Rowell Fund for Tibet has selected seven Tibetan grantees for financial support totaling $40,000 for 2015. The winners were chosen from 48 project proposals with individual grants ranging from $3347 to $7500 and will be carried out in India, Europe and the United States.

The Rowell Fund for Tibet was established in 2003 in memory of the late Galen Rowell and his wife Barbara who died tragically in a plane crash in 2002. Galen Rowell was an internationally known outdoor photographer whose “Rainbow over the Potala Palace” has become an iconic photo for adventure travelers and Tibet supporters. The Rowell Fund for Tibet, established by friends and family of Galen and Barbara, in cooperation with the International Campaign for Tibet, is to support the work of Tibetans communicating issues of importance to broader Tibetan or international audiences through photography, film-making, writing, journalism, and other projects.

Rowell Fund for Tibet to receive applications for 2014-2015 Grant Cycle

The Rowell Fund for Tibet seeks to support Tibetans who can make a significant contribution to their community and/or an international audience in the fields of visual arts and media, and environmental and women’s rights.

The application form for the Rowell Fund for Tibet’s 2014-2015 grant is now available for download. Application materials will be accepted from September 1 to September 30, 2014 (midnight Eastern Standard Time).

Rowell Fund for Tibet announces 2014 grantees

The Board of Advisors of the Rowell Fund for Tibet has selected seven Tibetan grantees for financial support totaling $44,872 in 2014. The winners were chosen from 66 project proposals with individual grants ranging from $1,800 to $7,500, and will be carried out in Asia and North America.

The Rowell Fund for Tibet was established in memory of the late Galen Rowell and his wife Barbara who died tragically in a plane crash in 2002. Galen Rowell was an internationally known outdoor photographer whose “Rainbow over the Potala Palace” has become an iconic photo for adventure travelers and Tibet supporters. The Rowell Fund for Tibet, established by friends and family of Galen and Barbara, in cooperation with the International Campaign for Tibet, has for 10 years supported Tibetans whose work can make a significant contribution in the fields of visual arts, the environment, media and women’s rights.
