United Nations Human Rights Council
The United Nations Human Rights Council plays a central role in focusing the world's conscience on human rights violations around the world based on internationally recognized human rights norms. ICT Europe attends meetings of the Council in order to interact with representatives of governments from around the world and educate them on the harsh realities inside Tibet.
In February 2009, China’s human record is up for review under the Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR). ICT submitted a joint review on China’s action in Tibet. ICT will work with the governments of Council members to ensure that China’s record of human rights violations gets a thorough and fair review. ICT encourages its members and concerned to petition their governments to support the critique of China’s record in Tibet.
