Statement by the Board of Directors of the International Campaign for Tibet

Lodi GyariOur dear and longtime friend, Mr. Lodi G. Gyari will be retiring from the Board of Directors of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) and as its Executive Chairman. After twenty-five years of extraordinary service, which saw the organization’s evolution from a Washington-based NGO to a truly international network with offices in Amsterdam, Berlin and Brussels, Mr. Gyari will remain an invaluable advisor and friend to the organization.

With a deeply committed team of Directors and staff, under the leadership of our new President Mr. Matteo Mecacci, Mr. Gyari will now be able to act on his long held intention to step down from the Board.

Mr. Gyari joined the International Campaign for Tibet in 1991 as its President while concurrently serving as the Special Envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In 1999, he stepped down from the presidency and began to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board of ICT.

We are of course overwhelmed with gratitude for his unswerving dedication, creativity, professionalism, wisdom and warm heart throughout these many years. We will always wish him the very best.
