Dharamsala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Berlin, Germany, from 16-17 June at the invitation of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT).

On 16 June, His Holiness will confer the Light of Truth award on behalf of the ICT to Vaclav Havel, former President of the Czech Republic, Dr. Otto Graf Lamdsdorff of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and Mrs. Irmtraut W?ger of Deutschen Tibethilfe eV.

The award is in recognition of their “outstanding contribution to public understanding of Tibet and its current plight”.

At the same time Ama La, as Irmtraut W?ger is commonly known to her Tibetan friends, will also be conferred the Nurse of Compassion Award by the Central Tibetan Administration in recognition of her contribution for the education of the poor and needy Tibetan children and assistance for the Tibetan welfare projects in India and Nepal.

His Holiness will also meet leaders and parliamentary members, including the President of the Parliament, Dr. Wolfgang Thierse.

Chhime R. Chhoekyapa, representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Geneva, says “there is a tremendous interest in the message of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in promoting peace of mind and human values as well as in his continued efforts to strengthen the cultural ties between the Tibetan people and the communities in Germany.”
