Goldmud-Lhasa Railway BookletDOWNLOAD THE REPORT »

One of the greatest development concerns in Tibet is the construction of a railway to connect Tibet’s capitol, Lhasa, with China’s extensive railway system. Construction of the railway is expected to result in stronger Chinese military presence in Tibet and a dramatic increase of Chinese settlers in Tibet – already believed to outnumber Tibetans in parts of the Tibet Autonomous Region and other Tibetan areas in Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Yunnan designated autonomous by the government.

The booklet contains satellite images of Tibet that show some of the demographic and environmental impacts of Chinese population influx onto the Tibetan Plateau.
