Dalai Lama hopes China will find courage to resolve Tibetan problem through negotiations

In his annual address to commemorate the Anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising Day on March 10, 2002, the Dalai Lama has said that he hoped the Chinese leadership will “find the courage, wisdom and vision to solve the Tibetan issue through negotiations.”

The Dalai Lama said whether the new Chinese leadership that will take power soon will be a positive factor of not will depend “on whether China continues to define herself mainly through her size, number, military and economic powers or whether she decides to commit herself to universal human values and principles and define her strength and greatness through them.” The full text of the Dalai Lama’s statement is available here »
