Google in China: Silence is Golden!

Dear Tibet Supporter! In late 2005 ICT launched an action to pressure Google to reverse its decision to censor web searches on its Chinese web site. Although to date, Google has not reversed its decision, ICT continues to work on issues of access to information and freedom of expression in Tibet. ICT has given testimony at a US government hearing on the Internet in China and continues to work with Chinese democracy groups and other groups focusing on Internet Censorship.

Your actions were invaluable in drawing media attention to Google's dirty tactics and focusing attention on other technology companies operating in similar ways in China today, including Microsoft, Cisco and Yahoo. This campaign will act as a warning to other companies in future to seriously consider their ethical position before agreeing to do the Chinese government's dirty work!

ICT would like to thank all its members and supporters who took part in this campaign in 2005-2006. We couldn't have done it without you!
